BURNOUT DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE.

BURNOUT IS A FACTOR OF PERFORMANCE.

Are you too tired to take yourself &/or your organisation to your next level of performance?

In 2019, the World Health Organisation officially included burnout in its International Disease Classification, defining it as:

“…chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed…”

which it then clarified with three dimensions being:

“1. feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion;

2. increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one’s job; and

3. a sense of ineffectiveness and lack of accomplishment.”

BURNOUT IS HARD TO DETECT.

Burnout does not discriminate. Burnout can hit anyone - the rich, the poor, those who work with their hands, those who work with their minds, a mother, a father, a daughter, a son, a sibling, a relative, a friend, a colleague, a leader, a follower, a peer, and even you. Burnout shows up differently in every single person; and creeps up on you ever so slowly over time.

“It represents an erosion in values, dignity, spirit, and will - an erosion of the human soul.” - Christina Maslach.

BURNOUT IS NOT NORMAL.

Society today has accepted the harsh realities of workplace stress; some people even wear their stress like a badge of honour. However this should not be accepted as the norm, or the inevitable non-negotiable cost of doing impactful work.

“Serious work does not, and should not, rob you of your health, your vitality, or your wellbeing.” - Dr. Jacinta M. Jiménez.
